Our Mission
Increase beef production in Puerto Rico through genetic improvement, implementation of veterinary practices, promotion of animal welfare, and promotion of improved pasture cultivation as a primary source of plant fiber for the island's livestock inventory.
All of this is accompanied by educational initiatives that make livestock operations profitable.
Your contribution is extremely important
The Fund for the Promotion of the Beef Industry in Puerto Rico is sustained by contributions from the producers themselves, as established by law:
$5.00 for each animal slaughtered in a slaughterhouse that weighs more than 100 pounds carcass weight.
$1.00 for each calf slaughtered with a carcass weight of 99 pounds or less.
Why the Fund?
The Puerto Rico Beef Industry Development Fund was established by Act No. 95 of November 29, 1992, with the purpose of strengthening the local meat industry. Since its founding, the Fund has played a fundamental role in promoting both the production and consumption of beef in Puerto Rico, acting as a key instrument for the sustainable development of the sector.
